SUMA in
Angola
SUMA in Angola Since the beginning of November some FUNDESUMA specialists are residing in Angola, with the purpose to train local personnel in the application of the SUMA system and to assess various organizations involved in the implementation of the SUMA methodology. As one of the activities, a training has been carried out for the personnel of Luanda (capital of Angola) and for representatives of various provinces, all coming from different institutions such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Red Cross. The course covered the subjects of Logistical Management of Emergency Supplies (MISE) and the use of SUMA software, with mayor emphasis on the Stock Management Module. In the coming days until the 29th of November, FUNDESUMA staff will continue in the country, offering their expertise and technical assessment. A special attention is given to the Essential Drugs Program of the Ministry of Health, in order to incorporate the national list of essential drugs into the SUMA tables. The implementation of these adapted tables will be extended to other institutions and provinces. As one of the indispensable activities, attention will be given to the formation of an inter-institutional group for the of supplies management coordination on national level. In the future, this group will be in charge of follow-up training courses and related assessment in this field. This activity has been financed by the World Health Organization, the Pan American Health Organization and ECHO (the Humanitarian Aid office of the EU). |
